Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) make a major contribution to the development of the country's economy 's added production, job generation, exports and overall growth. MSME units are creating maximum jobs alongside agriculture in Odisha itself. The MSME sector is responsible for around 40 per cent of the country 's exports and 45 per cent of the country 's total production output. Realizing the importance of a separate Micro , Small & Medium Enterprises Department was established with the goal of encouraging, fostering and improving the competitiveness of MSMEs in the state. This is an initiative of the State Government to rejuvenate, offer top priority and push to promote and organize the growth and development of the MSME industry.

The Modi Government is proposing giving 'MSME Registration status for dealers' which will allow them to take advantage of the benefits provided to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises ( MSMEs). Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for MSME and public transport and highways, made the declaration when on August 18 he was addressing a virtual show on "Building Vehicles, Engineering Components and Aggregates." "As long as MSME is concerned, we are now contemplating granting MSME status to dealers as well and they will benefit from it, which is also being discussed in order to receive the benefits," Gadkari said.

He said the government is also focusing on incorporating and improving all kinds of transportation such as rivers, marine transportation, train, road and air transportation that will certainly raising the logistics costs and benefit factories in a major way. In addition, Gadkari emphasized that the government is willing to provide all necessary resources and business should come up with creative plans to render India an automotive manufacturing hub.

The Minister said that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) comprising manufacturing and service units must be registered to take advantage of the benefits and subsidies provided under various government schemes. Registration often lets them get government tenders and provides faster access to low interest rate loans.

Gadkari said the country needs to reduce imports and improve the manufacturing of various components in sectors such as vehicles and construction equipment in order to achieve the self-reliance target. The minister called for upgrading research, innovation and technology and stressed the need for easy financing and compatible technology for joint ventures and foreign collaborations, an official statement said.

The Minister also repeated his request to major companies to clear MSMEs' pending dues in a timely manner.
